Another Day Another Ice Coffee
An ice coffee a day keeps... sleep away? Not always but... it's the thought that counts.
Okay, real talk you guys: I've been in such a weird rut lately.
I've been equally inspired as well as equally uninspired within the last week or two. Random things & items have been inspiring me for writing prompts, art pieces, & even meal ideas but I lack the... energy? ... attention span? I'm not sure exactly what. However I do know that it has been taking a toll on my mental health lately.
Currently, I work at a coffee shop. We'll leave the coffee shop unnamed for the time being. As everyone knows any type of retail work is awful, the customers do not care about you, the company values profite over their employees, & there will always be coworkers that you don't like working with. Like, it's life, ya know?
I wake up early for work, like before the sun has risen over the horizon, & typically work a 6-7 hour shift. Not a big deal, the job itself isn't hard but the customers, oh the customers make it hell. I've had customers argue with me about prices & demand that I change them back, been insulted & yelled at, & have been forced to apologize when I did nothing wrong. This does not count the times when I've just walked away from a customers when they begin to raise their voice at me. Like, do they not release that I am a human just like them? I know I look cooler than you with my tattoos & piercings but I promise I'm from planet earth.
I digress, let me refocus on what I was talking about.
Obviously work is a stressful, caffeinated environment. Beyond that I am a full time student but my course load isn't too bad, it just requires a good amount of outer of the box thinking which can be stressful after watching three videos & reading 25 pages plus taking notes.
Something that I love greatly, that I have mentioned numerous times, is anything to do with literature. Reading, writing, blogging, etc. With my current schedule it's hard to really be able to do those things. Which, you guessed it, stressed me out.
But, to elaborate on the random things inspiring me, here is an example: I heard a song the other day & this song a relatively popular song. However after hearing said song I built an entire story around the song. The story was beautiful too, it was centered around a pair of childhood friends (I named them Killian & Ophelia) & completely flipped their lives upside down. Ophelia was a nobel heiress while Killian's family were only high ranking because Ophelia's father adored them & wouldn't let the slums take them (btw, Killian's dad was apart of the military, cheated on his mother, then mysteriously died which is why they were losing their status) I planned not one, not two, but THREE books. All from this song. Each book was also assigned it's own song, the narration also changed with each book, & there was no direct romance in it, it was all basically high fantasy.
Side Note: When is the last time that you read a book where there were two friends of the opposite gender that did not fall in love? Let me know because I'd love to read one!
Wait, do not get me wrong. I love the best friends to lovers trope, I'm 100% down for the enemies to lovers trope, & even the opposites attract trope. But I want a story of two, opposite gender friends that don't fall in love (with other ppl is fine) & go through a bunch of traumatic, dangerous events, but come out with a strong friendship ( after briefly falling apart & coming back together). Doesn't that sound like a good book?
Another random thing that inspired me was a ring that I wear every day, mind you this ring has never inspired me before. On the ring there are nine moons, all in different phases. Now picture this: A magic based society that has centered their powers around the moon, as they complete one of the nine phases they grow more & more powerful. However, it is very unlikely to complete all nine phases & those who do are mainly elders who have studied for years. Randomly, this young adult (probably around 19) completes the ring (all 9 phases) & becomes the most powerful magical user. They inherit the town & all responsibilities but this is when monsters are unleashed from nowhere & shit really goes down. I did not finish this thought though, because I got caught up in deciding the names of everything & researching the moon's phases.
Moving on, you see my problem. I'm overworked, under caffeinated, & can't commit to one theme before being rushed by a college workload. But I don't want to sound like I am complaining & if it does, I'm sorry.
I guess I'll go, the D&D party is here & I'm ready to beat the shit out of ppl with my 17 strength & move to the next island.
See you guys later,
Arrivederci
