Geia Sas 2022
I'm not sure if this is an obligational New Year 2022 blog post or if I'm just feeling extra write-y, either way here we are.
So, Happy New Year everyone!
2021 was certainly an interesting year for me ( as well as others, I'm sure, but this is my blog post not theirs so.)
The beginning of the year was an especially exciting time b/c it was the One Year Anniversary of my writing/art group; Carpe Artes! It was when I launched the first Carpe Artes writing/art challenge known as Battle of the Artes (clever, I know.) I'll go ahead & jump the gun here, the challenge was a fail & no, I don't want to talk about it. What we can talk about is the strawberry cake that I made, from scratch, for the occasion.
One of my very best friends traveled down from New York & spent a few weeks w/ me. After we had been apart for too long (only a few months but it felt like yrs). Our energy is much like the energy of an early 2000ths-teen-flick movies but more naps & laying out in the sun. My god-son turned 2 & I still don't believe it, refuse to believe that his 3rd is right around the corner.
Got vaccinated the day before my 23rd birthday, b/c nobody likes you when you're 23 (& apparently unvaccinated?)
Graduated from college & celebrated for roughly a week, along w/ a few old friends who come in from out of town.
The summer brought mainly travels here & there (see prior blog posts). As well as the publication of the Anthology of Wilmington, where I was able to write about Black Beard while one of my other best friends illustrated it. (Side Note: I signed my first autograph on Friday the 13th & I couldn't have picked a better day!) The summer also brought the end of my long-time relationship, moving-out, & the beginning of rediscovering myself.
Fall & Winter brought happiness; new friendships (though I've got little-to-no group pics to share, sorry), my boyfriend (ya know, Gabe uwu), more travels, falling back in love w/ my hobbies, more time spent w/ my family, & rebuilding my belief/faith. Ya girl also decided on furthering her education at Edinburgh College of the Arts in Scotland &, b/c of this, I also decided to begin learning Greek (S/O to Duolingo) Oh, & I started therapy so! Ah!
& the end of the year, oddly, brought me closure.
I'm content w/ how this year has played out & I'm ecstatic to see what the future of 2022 holds. I've got a loving & supportive boyfriend who adventures w/ me, friends that are ever-encouraging who keep me social, an incredible mentor helping me reach my educational goals, a family that have only unconditional love for me, & a better understanding/love for myself than I have in yrs.
2022, for me, will include me continuing to go after what makes me happy & I hope you all do the same. Let me share w/ you all one of my favorite quotes: "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." & sometimes the bed is what you're dancing on & the music is September, you guys get it.
Until next time,
Haunted Lore
